How to Apply for Financial Aid

Please note:  All students must complete a FAFSA each year in order to receive financial aid at Argosy University.

1. Go to www.pin.ed.gov to apply for a PIN number.  The PIN number will serve as your electronic signature on your FAFSA application every year. The PIN number is also used for the Master Promissory Note and the Entrance/Exit Counseling quiz.   When you have your PIN number you can proceed to the next step:
2. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and under “filling out a FAFSA” click on the link that says “Fill out your FAFSA.”  After you have submitted your FAFSA application you may proceed to the next step.  Argosy’s school code is 021799
3.  Complete the Stafford Entrance Loan Counseling Test- please complete the Stafford Entrance Loan Counseling Assessment online at: www.studentloans.gov  In order to begin, click on Sign In.  Enter your social security number, first two characters of last name, date of birth and PIN number.  If you do not have a PIN number you can get this at www.pin.ed.gov by requesting a duplicate PIN number.  In the middle section of the page there are four options to choose from.  You want to click on the first option, Complete Entrance Loan Counseling.  This is for the Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan.  You will need about 30 minutes to complete the counseling session.  Please make sure that you enter in “Argosy University-Schaumburg” as your campus.  At the end of the test it will says “congratulations, you have successfully completed the Entrance Counseling.”  There is an option to print this confirmation.  Please print this and give it to Gwendolyn Dodt in Student Finance. 
4.  Complete the Master Promissory Note- You will complete your Master Promissory Note electronically at the following website: www.studentloans.gov click on “complete Master Promissory Note.”  Please make sure that you enter in “Argosy University-Schaumburg” as your campus location.  Please complete the Master Promissory Note for the Federal Stafford Loan -“Subsidized/Unsubsidized” loans.    You will now complete the Master Promissory Note for Student Loans. When this is complete please notify your Financial Aid Representative at Argosy University.
5. Complete the linked Authorizations for the University Form A and return it to the Student Finance department on campus. 
6. If you would like any information to be released to a third party. Please fill out the FERPA release form and submit it with your financial aid documents.
