Core Faculty - Rhonda Goldman, Ph.D.
Rhonda Goldman, PhD is an Associate Professor and a core faculty member in the Clinical Psychology program of the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University/Schaumburg. She received both her Doctorate (1997) and master's (1991) degrees in Clinical Psychology from York University in Toronto. In addition to teaching at American School of Professional Psychology since 1996, Dr. Goldman has been adjunct faculty at York University and participated as workshop trainer in emotion focused therapy, an area in which Dr. Goldman has been an active researcher and has published and presented internationally in the area of emotion focused therapy. In addition to numerous journal articles, Dr. Goldman has co-authored three books on emotion focused therapy over the last 5 years. They include: Learning Emotion Focused Therapy; Case Studies in Emotion Focused Treatment of Depression and Emotion Focused Couples therapy: The Dynamics of Emotion, Love and Power. This last book, co-authored with Dr. Leslie Greenberg, received an Independent Publishers Award in 2009. Dr. Goldman also serves as an Advisory Editor for the international journal, Psychotherapy Research. Her current teaching activities include psychopathology, interviewing skills and basic models of intervention, person-centered and experiential therapy, and electives in emotion focused therapy. Dr. Goldman is a licensed clinical psychologist on the clinical staff at The Family Institute at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, specializing in anxiety and depression, and continues to be involved in process-oriented psychotherapy research. Most recently she was honored by the Society for Humanistic Psychology, Division 32 of the American Psychology Association, with the Carmi Harari Early Career Award for 2011, for her research, scholarship and writing in the area of Emotion Focused Therapy.
