Conference Fund Information
Student Council includes a Conference Fund in its annual budget. This fund is designed to provide financial support to students for the registration fees associated with attending academic conferences. Our funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis as follows:
- A total of $200 per month ($2400 per academic year) has been designated for the conference fund.
- Students from all departments are eligible to apply for these funds.
- Student Council will reimburse students for 75% of any academic conference registration fee at a maximum of $100 per student per month. This means that 2 students may receive $100 per month, or if the registration fees are less, then multiple students may benefit from the funds until the $200 allocated for that month has been reached.
- Any unused funds for a month roll over into the subsequent month(s) until fully used.
Procedures for obtaining reimbursement from the Student Council Conference Fund:
- Send
an email to the Treasurer, Glen Miller (gmiller4@cnw.stu.argosy.edu),
with the conference dates, amount, and details, to receive approval,
prior to attending the conference. Because these funds are
available on a first-come, first-served basis, there is a chance
that funding may not be available or that you may be placed on a
waiting list. You must pay for the conference fees yourself,
and if approved, you will be reimbursed (for the maximum amount
allowed) after completing the steps below.
- Since the student activity fees help to pay for this fund, after you return from the conference, you are required create a poster presentation to hang in the student lounge, which the entire student body may view. This should be an APA-style (ACA) poster sharing information obtained at the conference with the rest of the student body. Reimbursement for the registration fee will not be dispersed until Student Council has approved your poster and it has been placed in the lounge.
- You will also need to fill out the Student Council "Request for Funds" form, attach a copy of the receipt(s), and place them in the Student Council mailbox (in 999 building, 8th floor, with faculty mailboxes).
